چکیده

Systemic Functional Linguistics provides a semiotic perspective on language. The text analysis described in Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) can be of critical value in real-world applications. But parsing with SFL grammars is computationally intensive task and parsers for this level of description to date have not been able to operate on unrestricted input. This paper describes a graph-based method to automatically generate simplified SFL mood and transitivity parses of English sentences from Stanford Dependency parses and a database providing transitivity categories

Dependency-based Sentence Simplification for Increasing Deep Lfg Parsing Coverage

Large scale deep grammars can achieve high coverage of corpus data, yet cannot produce full-fledged solutions for each sentence. In this paper, we present a dependency-based sentence simplification approach to obtain full parses of simplified sentences that failed to have a complete analysis in their original form. In order to remove the erroneous parts that cause failure, we delete phrases fro...

Generating Typed Dependency Parses from Phrase Structure Parses

This paper describes a system for extracting typed dependency parses of English sentences from phrase structure parses. In order to capture inherent relations occurring in corpus texts that can be critical in real-world applications, many NP relations are included in the set of grammatical relations used. We provide a comparison of our system with Minipar and the Link parser. The typed dependen...

Deriving Multi-Headed Planar Dependency Parses from Link Grammar Parses∗

Under multi-headed dependency grammar, a parse is a connected DAG rather than a tree. Such formalisms can be more syntactically and semantically expressive. However, it is hard to train, test, or improve multi-headed parsers because few multi-headed corpora exist, particularly for the projective or planar case. To help fill this gap, we observe that link grammar already produces undirected plan...

Unsupervised Linguistically-Driven Reliable Dependency Parses Detection and Self-Training for Adaptation to the Biomedical Domain

In this paper, a new self–training method for domain adaptation is illustrated, where the selection of reliable parses is carried out by an unsupervised linguistically– driven algorithm, ULISSE. The method has been tested on biomedical texts with results showing a significant improvement with respect to considered baselines, which demonstrates its ability to capture both reliability of parses a...

Using Dependency Parses to Augment Feature Construction for Text Mining

(ABSTRACT) With the prevalence of large data stored in the cloud, including unstructured information in the form of text, there is now an increased emphasis on text mining. A broad range of techniques are now used for text mining, including algorithms adapted from machine learning, NLP, computational linguistics, and data mining. Applications are also multi-fold, including classification, clust...
